Bill's Bottle Depot Ltd. was originally established in 1974 as "Meric's Warehouse" by Bill Eichhorn in the old Fruit Union building in Salmon Arm. In 1994 Bill passed away, and the business was managed and owned by Dianne Burk, who has taken the business from a small bottle depot to a full-service recycling centre. In conjunction with the CSRD (Columbia Shuswap Regional District) there are 12 large ‘Blue Bins” containers to recycle food cans, glass jars, newspaper and mixed paper waste available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In cooperation with Encorp’s Return-it program, Bill’s Bottle Depot accepts all refundable beverage containers at full deposit refund. Effective January 1, 2009, we will accept milk containers (jugs, gabletop and soy milk containers) inside the warehouse. As no deposit is paid by you, no deposit is refunded. This program is sponsored by the BC Dairy Association through Encorp. Other recyclables accepted at the warehouse include automotive and household batteries, paint, certain chemicals/pesticides and gasoline in approved containers. Our Electronic recycling program includes computers, monitors, TV’s, desktop printers & faxes. We are currently taking corrugated cardboard inside the warehouse, but due to the low commodities price, we are charging a small handling fee. |
